# I lost access to my account and I don't have a backup file

If your device is lost and you do not have a copy of your valid backup (e.g., cloud storage or another device), we are unfortunately unable to restore your account or data.

***

The backup file contains data specific to your account and device/browser. This ensures that only you can access your account, further bolstering security.

For your security, neither Stobox nor Fireblocks has access to your private keys or backup files, so the backup file must be explicitly backed up by a user. This ensures your financial information remains fully in your control.

This policy safeguards user privacy and ensures that only the backup holder has access to sensitive account information.

***

To protect against future loss, we strongly recommend making a copy of your valid backup file on another device or a cloud.

* **Limit Use of Public Devices:** Avoid accessing your account on public or shared devices to minimize exposure to security risks.
* Ensure **backup files are stored in multiple locations** to mitigate risks of loss or inaccessibility.

# Agent Instructions: Querying This Documentation

If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.stobox.io/helpcentre/help-centre/troubleshooting/i-lost-access-to-my-account/i-lost-access-to-my-account-and-i-dont-have-a-backup-file.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
