Blockchain Wallet

Which wallet should I use?

MetaMask is a recommended wallet to use with the DS Dashboard.

However, you can use any other wallet you prefer, provided it is supported by WalletConnect. You can view its supported wallets here.

Another available option is using the Ledger hardware wallet or connect your wallet address via its private key.

📌
DS Dashboard does not store either your funds or your wallet's private key. It displays the balance while the wallet is connected. Please make sure to log out after you finish your work with Dashboard.

How do I create a wallet address?

First, you must download and install a blockchain wallet. During this process, you will receive the address that a wallet creates for you.

📌
A wallet can hold several addresses. If you have several addresses in your wallet and want to additionally secure them, export their private keys and save them in a safe place. Read more on the official MetaMask’s Get Support page.

See the process for creating a MetaMask wallet below; however, the process is similar for most wallets.

To download and install a MetaMask wallet extension to your desktop or laptop,

1. Visit https://metamask.io/ using your web browser.

2. Click the Download or the Download now button.

This action will take you to the relevant store to download the extension or the app based on your device and browser.

3. Follow the instructions.

📌
Read more about securing your wallet on the official MetaMask website.
⚠️
MetaMask support team never contacts users first! They only work with the tickets you can raise from the MetaMask using the link at every screen.

⚠️
If someone contacts you first, privately or publicly, claims to be MetaMask support and says they want to help you, it is a scammer.

Where can I find my wallet address?

1. Hover your cursor underneath the account name at the top of the MetaMask wallet screen (highlighted area on the screenshot below) until you see the Copy to clipboard hint.

How do I see my security tokens in MetaMask?

To see the tokens in your wallet, you must add the security token's contract address to your MetaMask and have the correct network added.

📌
Any other security token or crypto supported by MetaMask can be added using the guide below. We will use our security token, STBX, as an example.
1. Find and copy the contract address of the security token.

✔️ on the Issuer’s website

image

✔️ ask the Issuer via available contact

✔️ find the contract address via the blockchain:

  • on the Investment opportunities page click the security token ticker to open the security token on the blockchain.
  • image
  • on the blockchain, click the Copy icon. We copied the STBX contract address in the Etherscan 0x54f37F8c64AC1E3a451ff9762BFC8afe0eDb0f0A
  • image
2. Make sure to have Ethereum Mainnet selected in your MetaMask.

3. Click the Import tokens link at the bottom of the MetaMask Assets window. You may need to scroll the window down.
image
4. Click the Custom token tab and paste the STBX contract address.

The token's name and its decimals will be automatically pulled from the blockchain.

image
5. Click the Add custom token button.

6. Click the Import tokens button to finalize the action.
image
image
Done! Now you can see your balance of STBX once an Issuer sends it to your address.

How do I create a new Polygon (or Binance) wallet address?

As we mentioned, you create a wallet address when downloading a MetaMask extension or an app and set up an account.

The good news is that you can use this address on any blockchain network supported by MetaMask once you add it to your MetaMask.

So, the answer to this question is: you need to add a new network to your wallet to have an address on this network. Add a new network.

See our example below.

You have just created a MetaMask wallet with the address 0x17cBA6DADE5f9507BE67F8A56E4263ebfD5bDDE7.

It is an Ethereum Mainnet address, because Ethereum Mainnet is the default network for the MetaMask.

image

However, you need a Polygon address to verify your identity on the DS Dashboard where Polygon Mainnet is supported.

To have your address 0x17cBA6DADE5f9507BE67F8A56E4263ebfD5bDDE7 on Polygon, you need to add a Polygon network to your MetaMask. Then, your wallet address will be valid for Polygon too.

How do I know which network works on the DS Dashboard?

If you can’t find this information on the Issuer’s website, you can check the DS Dashboard’s Company profile or Investment opportunities pages for one of the network logos.

So how do I add other networks to the MetaMask?

The native network of MetaMask is Ethereum Mainnet, so if your Issuer's Dashboard works on the Ethereum network, you do nothing but download and create a MetaMask account if you haven't already done that.

See the guides below to add Binance Smart Chain or Polygon* Mainnet.

*prev name of Polygon is Matic, so if you see the Matic name at some point, please proceed confidently.

Desktop/laptop
1. Go to the corresponding blockchain explorer ⬇️

For Binance Smart Chain, it is https://bscscan.com/.

For Polygon Mainnet, it is https://polygonscan.com/.

2. Scroll down to the very bottom of the page and find the MetaMask logo (a fox head).

3. Click the Add BSC Network or Add Polygon Network buttons accordingly.

4. Approve adding the network to your MetaMask wallet.

Please proceed confidently, using the official blockchain explorers to add the network.

📌
When adding a network, MetaMask will try to switch to it right away. You can proceed or cancel to stay on your previous network. In this case, you add a new network but will not switch your wallet to it.
image
📌
You can also add networks by using the Add Network button in the drop-down menu at the top of the MetaMask window and the known technical details of your selected network. You could see this option in the video about bridging MATIC from Ethereum to Polygon networks.

Mobile device
1. Open your MetaMask app.

2. Tap the Wallet / Ethereum Main Network on top of the screen.
image
3. Tap the Add a network button.

4. Tap the Add link next to BNB Smart Chain.
image
5. Approve that you want to add this network by tapping a button.
image
6. MetaMask will try to switch the network. You can proceed or stay in your previous network.

📌
Pending confirmations mean any transactions on another network. For example, if you sent some tokens on the Ethereum Mainnet and switched the network to Polygon Mainnet before the sending transaction on Ethereum Mainnet is completed, this action will automatically cancel it.
⚠️
Gas fees are never refunded, so we suggest waiting until the transaction completes successfully and then switching networks confidently.

How do I switch between networks?

To switch the networks in your MetaMask, click the drop-down menu at the top of the MetaMask window. You will see the list of all added networks in your MetaMask.

Click the appropriate network.

How do I export my private key?

In your MetaMask,

1. Click the three dots on the top right and select the Account details.
image
2. Click the Export private key button.

Where can I get crypto for investing or paying gas fees?

Issuers need native tokens of the network their DS Dashboard works on to pay gas fees. Investors need to purchase some cryptocurrency to use as a payment option and some native tokens of your DS Dashboard network to pay gas fees.

To purchase cryptocurrency, you can use either of the options below.

1. Centralized exchange (CEX)

This kind of exchange requires registration and identity verification before you can trade, i.e., purchase any crypto with them. You must deposit some fiat (USD, EUR, etc.) or another crypto to your account to trade.

Binance, Gate.io, and Coinbase are among the largest and most well-known CEXes. The trading commission applies.

📌
Binance also offers a convenient purchase using your credit card; however, you still need to have a verified account with them. See https://www.binance.com/en/buy-sell-crypto. The commission may apply.
2. Decentralized exchange (DEX)

This kind of exchange does not require registration and identity verification. You connect a supported Web3 wallet and “swap” one crypto for another.

UniSwap and Pancake Swap are among the most significant and well-known DEX.

Stobox has built its very own DS Swap, a DEX for security tokens and selected crypto.

The trading commission applies.

3. Exchangers

Exchanger options are available in some Web3 wallets. For example, in MetaMask, you can purchase some crypto using available exchanges for your country. The trading commission applies.

To check your options, in your MetaMask

1. Choose the network (Ethereum Mainnet, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon) or add one.

Our example is for Ethereum Mainnet and its native token Ether (ETH).

Alternatively, you can search for the crypto you want to buy using Import token options to add its contract and buy in the same way. In our example below, it is USDT.
1. Import tokens
